The Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD) has been a driving force in Irish art and design education for over 169 years, with its annual graduate exhibition being a highlight of the year. Since its inception in 1852, the school has attracted thousands of visitors, drawn by its reputation as one of Europe’s prestigious fine-art, design, and creative media schools. This week-long event celebrates the vision and innovation of LSAD’s emerging talent, showcasing the extraordinary work of both Irish and international emerging artists and designers. The LSAD 2025 Graduate Show, taking place at the Clare Street Campus, Limerick, promises to be an exciting showcase of creativity and innovation.

Exhibition Highlights and Features

The exhibition will feature an array of projects from a multitude of disciplines, including Fine Art, Fashion, Animation, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Game Art and Design, Interior Design, Ceramics, Photography, Sculpture, Film, Music Technology, and the Bachelor of Education in Art & Design. Some of the projects on display include:

  • Darragh Ryan’s “Why is everything I do a self portrait” – a mixed media installation using boards, canvas, layering, paint, and spray paint
  • Óran Curran Coleman’s “The places that hold him” – an anthology of prints created using plant materials that are sensitive to light, reflecting on the sudden passing of her father in 2007
  • Méabh Keogh’s sustainable fashion designs, celebrating Irish culture and tradition, while taking a zero-waste approach

Awards Ceremony and Special Highlights

The exhibition will be officially launched by Minister Patrick O’Donovan TD this Saturday evening, 31st of May, at 3pm, with doors open to the public from 1pm to 5pm. The Awards Ceremony will take place at 3pm, where excellence and innovation across disciplines will be recognised. The prestigious Carmody-Mitchell Global Travel Award – a €5,000 prize supporting the international ambitions of a graduating Fine Art student – will be announced. The exhibition will run daily from May 31 to June 8, between 10am to 5pm. Visitors can expect to be inspired by the creativity and innovation of the next generation of Irish artists and designers.

Awards Ceremony Highlights

Among the honours to be announced is the prestigious Carmody-Mitchell Global Travel Award – a €5,000 prize supporting the international ambitions of a graduating Fine Art student. The ceremony will take place at 3pm, and visitors are encouraged to attend.

Dean’s Message

Speaking ahead of the event, Dean of LSAD and Director of Cultural Engagement at TUS, Mike Fitzpatrick, remarked: “Every year we are so excited to showcase the creativity and innovation of our LSAD students, who are the next generation of Irish artists and Designers. We look forward to welcoming thousands of guests through our doors throughout the exhibition. We would encourage everyone to take some time to enjoy the collections and works from our animators, filmmakers, fashion, graphic, ceramic, and interior designers and fine artists. There are so many inspiring works, stories, and ideas to marvel at. PS: Bring your friends and future little creatives. ”
