The Kentucky Derby’s 151-year tradition of horse racing at Churchill Downs is set to continue with the next crop of three-year-old thoroughbreds, with a new commemorative bottle created by artist Humberto Lahera to mark the occasion.

The Artistic Inspiration Behind Lahera’s Kentucky Derby Bottle
During his virtual interview with us, Lahera explained the inspiration behind his artwork, titled “Carrera Dinamica” or “Dynamic Race.” This dynamic painting captures the fluid motion of the Kentucky Derby, with vivid colors and movement.
“I have had a natural talent since I was born,” says Lahera, “and I love the American dream, which is full of culture. Kentucky, in particular, is full of culture and history.”

The Meaning Behind the Kentucky Derby Bottle
According to Lahera, his Derby bottle is meant to represent the event’s action, depicting a jockey and horse vaulting from an explosion of roses, racing toward the finish line.
“Everything is fluid and full of colors and movements,” Lahera explains, “including the classic representations of Churchill Downs with the twin spires that are part of the spectator stands and roses that are given to the winning horse. Carrera Dinamica captures the image of a jockey ‘chasing his American dream.
